April 4th and 17th I'm recording with pianist Thijn Vermeulen at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. The repertoire will consist mainly of original pieces written for Theremin. The most remarkable piece is 'Bury Bury Me Wind' (1930), composed by Joseph Schillinger, scored for soprano, Theremin and piano. It was premiered on January 4th,1931 in the New York Town Hall by Leon Theremin, Nina Koshetz (soprano) and Boris Kogan (piano).
Composer Joseph Schillinger is a very important key figure for the Theremin. He composed the 'First Airphonic Suite' for Theremin and orchestra in 1929, which was also premiered by Leon Theremin. Besides composing other solo pieces for Theremin, like 'Mouvement Électrique et Pathétique' (1932), Schillinger also arranged some music for Theremin ensemble, and even a Theremin orchestra, consisting of ten players. I've played one of these arrangements myself in the London Festival Hall in 2010 with the original instruments: two Theremins, two Theremincello's and a Theremin keyboard. --> link to recording
'Bury Bury Me Wind' is the composition I'll be recording in April. The lyrics to this special composition were written by the russian poet Anna Akhmatova (see image). They tell the tal eof a woman singing to her lover from the grave.

I'm really looking forward to record this music!
