Very happy with the new piece for theremin and harp I received by American Composer Stephen Melillo! Stephen wrote a piece in three movements called "Three Musical Haikus for Theremin and Harp" dedicated my duo for theremin and harp Duo Jørgensen - de Leuw and Leon Theremin. Can't wait to perform it!
I'm very pleased to present this recording of 'Sirenum Scopuli', a wonderful composition by Canadian composer Victor Herbiet. Actually, it's the first part of a larger work for theremin and harp, which he's writing for Duo Jørgensen - de Leuw. More information is available at the duo's new website.
The concerts with Renske de Leuw at the X Rio Harp Festival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil received a lot of media attention and positive reviews. We did an interview with Brazil's biggest newspaper O Globo. If you're curious and able to read Portuguese, please find the interview at O Globo's website.
Dutch late night TV show 'Pauw' is a very popular programme, which airs every weekday. I was invited as a guest together with Tijl Beckand and pianist Valentina Tóth to tell something about my instrument, that was also featured in Tijl Beckand's TV show 'De Tiende van Tijl', to be aired a couple of days later.
Playing Martinu's Fantasia for Theremin with the Ragazze Quartet was great fun. Our performance was recorded live in front of a studio audience, and was broadcasted on Dutch national TV this week. I'm very excited that I had the chance (again) to share my instrument with a large audience and let them see that the theremin is a proper musical instrument like any other.
After having played at the Electromagnectica Festival in Santiago de Chile, Thorwald Jørgensen is now traveling to South America once again. Thorwald and harpist Renske de Leuw will be performing at the X Rio Harpfestival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. They will perform several concerts at different festival locations with their repertoire consisting of a mix of original music written for the duo and classical transcriptions.
